LGBTQ Advocates Protest At Texas Capitol As House Plans To Discuss Ban On Transgender Treatment Of Trans Kids

Hundreds of LGBTQ supporters and guardians of transgender kids have gathered at the

Texas Capitol ahead of the House’s believed significant vote on a bill which would ban gender-inclusive care for children.

Before the House met Tuesday morning, the crowd weaved up a stairs as they filled the passageway beyond the chamber.

Many wore rainbow clothes and flags, and waived signs to show their backing for trans Texans.

The Rev. Erin Walter — one of several church members there helping trans kids

as a participant the Texas Freedom Network’s simply Texas project — led the group in song.

“We have been fighting for what is right for us, and we are not going to be moved,” the crowd sang.
